Let me get this… The Republicans are fiscally conservative this week. Where in the hell was your party’s fiscal conservatism between 2001 and 2009? Where was it when Bush proposed his first budget (before 9/11)? Let’s not forget that John Bohener voted for the first bailout package. It is snake-oil scumbags like him that are killing the Republican Party.
I am a true fiscal conservative. The Republican and Democratic parties are as fiscally conservative as the sun rising at midnight.
We need fiscal conservatism back while we still have a country. Running an additional trillion dollars in debt every year is not good for the economy. The video is correct in pointing out that no new jobs will be created with this bailout plan. If only the Republicans practiced what they are currently preaching.
It is time to leave the Republican Party. There hasn’t been a fiscally conservative Republican since Warren Harding. There are few fiscal conservatives in the House and none in the Senate.
Many people think that fiscal conservatism is cutting taxes. This is partially true. A fiscal conservative would also limit spending to what is lawfully and constitutionally essential.
The Republican Party is NOT a fiscally conservative party. They may be somewhat more fiscally conservative than Democrats, but that is like calling an elephant svelt because it isn’t as heavy as a rhinoceros.
There are two options: Joining a fiscal conservative party like the Libertarian Party or forming your own party. I would suggest joining the Libertarian Party. It is already an established party whose platform is consistent with fiscal conservatism. And if enough fiscal conservatives join the Libertarian Party, the Democrats will have a formidable foe who will stop the excessive taxation and spending Americans have had to endure.

Peggy Noonan almost gets it, but not quite… It all depends on that is meant by “conservatism”. As more Republicans become “conservative” in the Ron Paul and Robert Taft fashion, it is causing friction with the “conservative” in the Tom DeLay manner.
Washington has distorted the meanings of “conservative” and “liberal” so much, they now mean the opposite. True traditional conservatives and true traditional liberals agreed on quite a few things (albeit for different reasons.) Both believe in:
- ending the “war on drugs”
- repealing the “Patriot Act”
Until we have a party take the banner of the above, it will not matter which party you vote for, you will lose.
